Apache Trust...

The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is a dog.

Texas summers can be devastatingly hot! The other day while driving down one of my neighborhood roads, I noticed a dog off to the edge of the road.  As I slowed to pass, he started following my car. With temperatures soaring in the upper nineties, you can imagine how hot this poor baby was.  I slowed the car to a complete stop and opened my door.  He immediately jumped in my lap as to say, help!  Well he ended going home with me and we started a pursuit to find his owner.  After many postings, no one has claimed him thus far.  We are still searching, but as with many other strays these days, the owners seem to have disappeared.

What amazes me about picking up a stray dog is the immediate trust they feel.  This dog, now called Apache, jumped in my lap and went for a ride with me to town.  He had no idea what my plans were for him but he showered me with love the minute he arrived in my lap.  What is it with dogs that gives them immediate trust with us humans?  A deep, undeniable trust that is beyond what any human feels, even with our loved ones.  Our canine friends put their lives in our hands even when they don't know us.  Why don't we have this much trust in God?  Why is it so hard for us to completely give our hearts and souls to someone that can make them whole and peaceful?  It comes so easy for dogs to love, trust and give their all.  In a human's world it doesn't come easy, even when we meet a dog for the first time.

In Psalms 91:14-16 the Lord says to us, " I will rescue those who love me.  I will protect those who trust in my name.  When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble.  I will rescue and honor them.  I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation."   God has asked a simple request; trust in him and our lives will be better.  He will rescue us from our pain and sorrows, he will walk with us when we feel alone and best of all he will give us his salvation.  Maybe we should look at the trust dogs have, then we would understand what God is asking of us.

A Dogs love is from God, cherish it.  Make a difference, save a dog today!  4 Toes Up!

A Dogs Soul

Every dog must have a soul, somewhere deep inside
Where all his hurts and grievances are buried with his pride.

Where he decides the good and bad, the wrong way from the right,
And where his judgement carefully is hidden from our sight.

A dog must have a secret place, where every thought abides,
A sort of close acquaintance that he trusts in and confides.

And when accused unjustly for himself, He cannot speak,
Rebuked, He finds within his soul, the comfort he must seek.

He'll love, tho'he is unloved, and he'll serve tho'badly used,
And one kind word will wipe away the times when he's abused.

Altho' his heart may break in two, his love will still be whole,
Because God gave to every dog an understanding Soul!

Miracle of Life

"Dogs are miracles with paws."
~Attributed to Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy

Some say miracles don't exist. Miracles affect our lives daily. They are all around; sometimes we see them and sometimes we don't. The miracles of birth are always something that we can thank God for, whether it be human or animal, the moment something is born it goes from being in water to breathing air, a true miracle in the process. The babies above are true miracles. Their mother was very sick while carrying them and almost died giving birth to them. Being English Bulldog, she had several problems. She ended up with pregnancy diabetes and she couldn't maintain the right levels of calcium in her body. During her C-section, she had a reaction to the anesthetic and that caused her to seizure. She turned out to be a great mother to her babies and loved them dearly; she babied them even after they were a year old.

English Bulldogs are not able to breed naturally, nor are they able to give birth naturally. An English Bulldog gives birth by way of cesarean. She has no way of knowing how many babies she has, because she is not able to go through the normal birthing process as other dogs. When she starts to wake from surgery, her little miracles are waiting for her in an incubator. As her babies start to cry and she hears them, she immediately knows babies. When the babies are given to her, she starts by nudging each one and then starts to clean and nurture them as if they were born by normal means. How does she know those babies crying in the incubator are her's? She has just undergone major surgery and is not completely coherent, but wants to see her babies. How is it possible for her to know that she isn't pregnant anymore and that the surgery was to deliver her babies? Is it instinctual or do they know more about how their babies are born than we realize? It's an experience that we humans won't ever be able to understand.

God has given our dog companion knowledge that is beyond us. Just as these babies are born and many others everyday, we hope for miracles to come our way. We want God to grant us miracles in our finances, our jobs, our relationships, etc. Sometimes what we don't realize is that miracles are happening. We don't recognize them because its not the miracle that we were looking for. Some might say, "it's a miracle that I wake in the morning" or "that it's a miracle that I am still here (on earth)." God has a special purpose for each and every one of us and it's truly no miracle that we are here on earth. We are are here by Gods will. And, since we are here, God has given us a special gift; the greatest miracle of all, Jesus Christ! Jesus is all of mankind's miracle of birth. In John 4:24-26, 24, God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." 25, The woman said, "I know that Messiah" (called Christ) "is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us." 26, Then Jesus declared, "I who speak to you am he." Jesus is our way to the miracles of everyday life; he can bring forth miracles that otherwise wouldn't exist. But, we have to open our hearts and allow Jesus the opportunity to work miracles in our lives. Miracles do happen and they happen when you least expect them, and the best way to bring miracles into your life is to live in the word of God. And, the way to do that is to follow Jesus. In John 14:6, Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. Jesus doesn't ask much of us, but he does ask that we love him and ask him to be our Lord and Savior. If you ask Jesus into your heart, he will be your miracle of life and he take you places you have never been before. Just like the miracle of birth, no one can truly explain how babies go from water in the womb to breathing air as they are born. Even scientifically, there is no way to explain how a baby takes its first breathe as it emerges from its mother. So if God can give us the breathe of life, can you imagine what he could do in your life on a daily basis.

The Love of Dogs©

The greatest pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him, and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself, too.
- Samuel Butler

Have you ever noticed that your dogs like some people and some they don't? Do you listen to your dog when he or she doesn't like someone? Even if you cannot figure out why your dog doesn't like that person, you should pay attention because our dogs can see through the person and into the person's soul. For the most part, when a dog doesn't like someone then that person usually turns out to be not so good. This is where our values differ from theirs. Dogs are not hypocrites, nor are they two-faced; if they don't like you, you will know right off. It doesn't necessarily mean they are going to attack you, but usually they won't have anything to do with you. Dogs have very unique instincts. Their instincts tell them things that we may never understand...like how a newborn puppy has the ability to know that a stranger is holding him, when he doesn't have his eyes open? And, how a dog can smell a person and know right off if that person is good and or not. No, their instincts don't tell them not to chew on the furniture or not to eat our favorite shoes. But it does tell them to value their owners and to love us unconditionally. The love they offer us is the exact same love that we receive from God. When we are upset and take it out on our dogs, they forgive us immediately. The same applies to God, when make a mistake and ask him to forgive us, he does immediately. God doesn't judge us by our bad furniture or chewed on shoes. He doesn't care what our furniture looks like or by what we wear on our feet. He judges us by whats in our hearts. If our hearts were more like our faithful canine, then could we be closer to God? Jesus tells us to "love thy Lord our God" and to "Love one another", the greatest two commandments. Dogs don't have a choice in choosing whether to follow the commandments as they have a one way connection to God. There is never any question about if they love God. If they didn't love God then they wouldn't love and honor us like they do. Their love and loyalty is a gift for us from God and we should be thankful for the blessing of having our Dogs!

River takes the streets- with Jeff & Chase©

River's new series of stories....

River is a Bulloxer that has took it upon himself to change the way the world looks at dogs. He has the strength and abilities of a Boxer but the bull-headed attitude of the English Bulldog. There is not much that makes River back down or frightens him. River is a special dog that can do things that no other animal or person in the world can do. Keep up with the story and find out what River is all about.

It was a cold, rainy morning as River trots down the side of a busy road in rush hour traffic. A red sports car pulls up beside him with a couple of young men as the occupants. Jeff the driver, a 19 year old high school drop out and his friend Chase also a drop out, have chosen a life of self destruction that is leading them no where but in the wrong direction. Their lives are mostly made up of drugs, booze and terrorizing people. They support themselves and their negative habits by stealing other people's valuables and selling what drugs that they don't do themselves. Jeff and Chase have house burglary down to almost an a science, they get in, get the items they want, vacate the premises and be in a different area of the city in about 17 minutes. At the ages of 19, they have burglarized so many homes that they are considered professional thieves. They know how to get in and out without leaving behind a clue. This morning they were headed to a new house when they see River along side of the road.

Could River be Jesus?

My name is River and I am a Bulloxer. What if someone told you that I was coming to live with you for a month, what would you say? Would you allow me, a dog, to stay in your home for a month? How long would you need to prepare for me to come? Would you have a place for me to sleep and where would that be? What would you feed me and in what type of dish? Would you buy me a collar and take me for rides in the car? Where would you take me out to play? Would you take me to the dog park?

What if God told you that his beloved son had took the form of a dog and that he was coming to live with you for a month, what would you say? What would you do before Jesus arrived, would you clean your house and put on your best clothes? Would you change anything before he arrived? How long would it take you to prepare for Jesus to come in to your home? Where would he sleep, would it be the same place as before when you thought he was only a dog? Would you feed him at your diner table on your fine China, after all this is Jesus, or would you feed the Son of Man dog-food? What would you say to him and how would you entertain him? Would you throw the ball for him to chase or take him to the dog park to play with other dogs? Would you take him shopping for a collar and if so, what type of collar would you choose, one for looks or one that would be safer for him?

Even if you were a non-believer, how would it affect your life to have Jesus in your home as a dog? What would be the difference between River the dog or Jesus the dog. Would you have to change your lifestyle or your attitude. Do you think you would enjoy living Jesus? What would you tell your friends and family about the new dog you have in your home? Have ever really wondered if Jesus does spend time on earth and how he would go about doing it?

I would like to know your thoughts, so please leave River a comment, thank you!

What is K-9 Cross?

What is K-9 Cross? Its a ministry to teach us the word of God and the purpose of Dogs. Have you ever noticed the resemblance in the spelling of God and Dog. Dog is God spelled backwards. Do you know that sometimes Dogs know more than we do. They know the instant someone enters our property. They can tell time without ever looking at a clock. They can alert us of certain disease's with just their nose. Dogs have special gifts, such as their ability of smell, they can smell up to 10,000 times better than we can. Did you know that there's a new study that has shown that Dogs can detect breast and lung cancer. What we don't realize is that these special abilities that Dogs have, are for our benefit. Dogs serve a special purpose here on earth, they serve us, just in the same way we should serve God. Are we as loyal to God, as Dogs are to us? Do you think that God put the Dog here to teach us and if so, what can we learn from our canine companion? Hug a Dog, Hug God!

The question of the day is...What have you learned from a Dog?
